Privacy Policy

• Screen Time data. Swescroll uses Apple’s Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks to lock the apps you choose and measure your earned app time. Apple designed these frameworks so that this information is processed on your device. Swescroll never sees, stores, or transmits which apps you use, how long you use them, or which apps you have locked.
• Your learning data. Your vocabulary progress, spaced-repetition schedule, streaks, goals, and settings are stored on your device (and in your device backups). We have no server and no copy.
• No account. We do not ask for your name, an email address, or a login.
• Your reason for moving to Sweden. If the setup questions ask why you came to Sweden, that answer is used only to shape your study plan on the device. It is never sent anywhere, with or without your consent.

The first time you open Swescroll we ask whether you want to share anonymous usage data. Nothing is collected, queued, or written to disk before you answer: the analytics software is not even started until you agree. If you decline, or simply never answer, nothing about you is recorded and the app works exactly the same.

You can change your mind at any time under Settings → About. Turning it off stops collection immediately and clears the anonymous identifier we were holding; turning it back on starts a completely new one, unconnected to the old.

If you say yes, we use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. What we collect:

• Product events such as “onboarding step viewed”, “card answered (correct/incorrect)”, “level cleared”, or “trial started”.
• The fixed-choice answers from setup — which track you chose, your level, how long you have been in Sweden, when your test is, how confident you feel, what you want to change, and the study settings you picked — so we can see where people get stuck.
• A randomly generated anonymous identifier. It is not linked to your identity; we could not link it if we wanted to, because we do not know who you are.

What is never included: your name, your flashcard answers, which apps you lock, or any Screen Time information.

Location. Every event we send is explicitly stamped to switch off IP-based location lookup, so no city, region, or coordinates are ever derived or stored. Your IP address still reaches our analytics provider as ordinary connection metadata when an event is delivered, as it does with any website — it is not used to locate you or attached to your profile.

These statistics are not used for advertising and are not shared with data brokers.

Two features send us something you wrote or chose. Both are entirely optional — the app works exactly the same if you never use them — and both work whether or not you agreed to usage statistics, because a message you deliberately send is not something we observe about you.

• Send feedback (Settings → About). The message you write is delivered to us so we can read it and act on it. The email field is optional: if you fill it in, we receive that address and use it only to reply to you. If you leave it empty, your feedback stays anonymous.
• Reporting a flashcard. If you flag a card as wrong or confusing, we receive which card it was, which reason you tapped (for example “translation is wrong”), and a short optional note if you choose to write one.

If you have not agreed to usage statistics, these messages are sent as a single one-off delivery carrying an identifier generated for that one message and never stored, together with the app version so we can reproduce the problem. There is no way for us to tie two such messages to the same person.

Pronunciation audio for words, sentences, and citizenship questions either ships inside the app or is downloaded from Apple’s servers as On-Demand Resources. We do not run an audio server and receive nothing when a clip is fetched or played.

Subscriptions and free trials are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. If you agreed to usage statistics, they record that a purchase happened (e.g. “trial started”), not who made it.

Study reminders, streak reminders, and trial reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. No notification data is sent anywhere.

Swescroll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

We rely on your consent for usage statistics, and on our legitimate interest in answering you for feedback you choose to send. You can withdraw consent at any time under Settings → About, without losing any functionality.

Anonymous analytics events are kept in PostHog for as long as they are useful for product decisions and cannot be traced back to you. Feedback you send is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the app; if you gave us an email address, tell us and we will delete both it and your message. Everything else lives on your device — deleting the app deletes it.

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, and erasure, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Sweden, IMY). For anything related to this policy, contact us at info@tinywave.io.
